Terms of Service

Effective November 2, 2026

1. Who we are

Strongly Worded and Yours Truly are brands of Helmreich Type Co., LLC (“we”, “us”). These Terms apply to both, and to everyone who uses either website or orders a font (“you”). By placing an order, uploading handwriting or using a font we make, you agree to these Terms.

2. What we do

We turn photographs of handwriting into a digital font file and deliver it to you by email. We make fonts from handwriting written on our letter chart and, through Yours Truly, from other pages of handwriting.

3. Your promise about the handwriting

You represent and warrant that you have authorization to use every sample of handwriting you submit to us. That means the handwriting is your own, or you have the permission of the person who wrote it, or, if that person has died, you are a member of their family or their personal representative and are entitled to authorize its use. You also warrant that submitting the handwriting and our making a font from it will not violate anyone’s rights or any law.

4. No impersonation

You agree that you will not use, and will not allow anyone else to use, any font we make:

We may refuse or cancel any order, without a refund, if we reasonably believe it is intended for any of these uses.

5. Your font

When you have paid, the font file we deliver is yours to install on your own devices and to use in anything you make, personal or commercial, subject to Section 4. You may embed it in documents and PDFs you send to others. You may not sell, give away or distribute the font file itself. We keep all rights in our letter chart, software, methods, websites and brands.

6. You will defend, indemnify and hold us harmless

You will defend, indemnify and hold harmless Helmreich Type Co., LLC and its members, managers, employees, contractors and agents from and against any and all claims, demands, suits, losses, liabilities, damages, judgments, settlements, fines, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or relating to: (a) any handwriting you submit; (b) your breach of Section 3 or Section 4; or (c) any use or misuse of a font we make for you, whether by you or by anyone who obtains it from you. We may choose our own counsel at your expense and you will cooperate with our defense.

7. Using our service to copy our service

Our letter chart, process, software, website and business method are made available to you only so that you can order a font. By using our service, you agree that for ten (10) years after you last use it you will not, directly or through anyone else, use anything you obtain or learn from our service to create, offer or operate a business that makes fonts from handwriting. Because our damages from a breach would be difficult to measure, if you breach this Section you agree to pay us, as liquidated damages, six (6) times the gross revenue of that business for each year of the ten-year period following your first breach. This Section does not limit any other remedy available to us, including an injunction.

8. Reviews

Nothing in these Terms limits your right to post an honest review of us, good or bad, anywhere you like.

9. Payment and refunds

Payment is taken by Stripe at checkout. You can cancel for a full refund until we start building your font. After that, if a photo is unusable we will ask for a new one at no charge, and if you are unhappy with the result we will work with you to fix it. Sales tax is added where the law requires it.

10. Your photos

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how long we keep it.

11. No warranties

Handwriting fonts are made from real handwriting and are imperfect by nature. Except as stated in Section 9, the service and fonts are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

12. Limit on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the order in question.

13. Governing law, jurisdiction and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, the service or any font we make must be brought exclusively in the state courts located in Hamilton County, Indiana. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts and waive any objection to venue there, including any objection that the forum is inconvenient.

14. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect and the unenforceable part will be enforced to the greatest extent permitted. Sections 3 through 8 and 11 through 13 survive delivery of your font. We may update these Terms; the version in effect when you place an order applies to that order.
